this is one whole race

a race takes about half a minute, start to finish. the commentator calls every jump, splash and toot.

you watch from the stands. what happens out there comes from your mornings at the ranch, plus a little luck.

what you do decides the race

  1. 1 breakfast

    pick what goes in the trough. greens keep your pig light. beans make big farts, and a big fart at the right moment wins races.

  2. 2 training

    four little games: sprint drills, mud laps, the bean buffet and the zen trough. play well and the drill counts for more.

  3. 3 love

    pats and scrubs build hearts. at five hearts your pig learns a signature move. pick a finishing dash, a mighty toot or iron hooves, then give it a name.

sixteen races to the golden oval

start at the farm derby on home meadow. finish in the top three of an open race to get into that region's cup. win the cup and the next region opens.

item puddles sit on some tracks. the first pig through picks something up and uses it.

  • a chicken runs across every lane.
  • a cow wanders onto one lane and stays a while.
  • a portal opens. the first pig through comes out somewhere else.
  • rain turns the rest of the track wet and slow.
  • a pig bomb. a giant pig falls from the sky and leaves a crater.

every pig farts. the clouds hang in the air and slow the pigs behind. a dragon pig's farts are on fire.

every pig has a breed, and each leans its own way. a tamworth is quick, a kunekune never tires and a pot-belly farts hardest. rare breeds are born with a move of their own.

the bakery at levels one, two and three

upgrade a shop and it grows. when the farm fills up, buy the land next door. there are 50 decorations too, from a koi pond to a ufo that hums at night.

the barn opens up as well. pick the wallpaper, the floor and the furniture, from a pig bed to a fireplace.

the family

pigs grow old on the ranch. when yours is ready, elder bristle asks about the next generation. pick a partner in the courtship pen, sleep on it, and meet the litter a morning or two later. one piglet in 500 is born golden.

retired racers become farm legends. they coach the young ones and race each other in the old oink classic, on the 22nd of every season.

the wild

past the gate in the west woods is a sunflower meadow. bring a lure, move slowly and catch a wild pig.

the trail runs on through mudwood forest, the coastal cliffs, the volcanic badlands and the fog mire, where something pale moves after dark.

    elders only, every season. the first win brings home a rocking chair that creaks wisely.

making games fun again

mvpig started in march 2026 as a concept doc. one rule sat on the first page: fun first, always.

i wanted a game where you raise a pig, give it a name and learn what it likes for breakfast. then race day comes, and all you can do is watch and cheer for it.

cozy games create attachment. chaos games create memories. mvpig does both.

the same page set two more: every pig grows old and retires a legend, and the shop sells looks only.

it's inspired by pokémon, stardew valley and uma musume. i'm making it in tokyo, for myself first, and for you guys.
